Our Tragic Loss
On 11th July 2012, we lost our beautiful daughter Giovanna to Ovarian Cancer, she had just turned 15.
This has to be one of the most insidious and hideous diseases known to mankind! One day we had a healthy, sports loving girl who loved life. Within 10 weeks she passed away, ravaged and literally consumed by a giant tumour.
In those 10 weeks her suffering was incredibly horrible, we who witnessed it can never forget. Ovarian Cancer is so rare in a child so young, but as we found out it does not discriminate. We could do nothing but pray, but this was futile.
The memory of this has haunted your whole family, we were and still are devastated. No other child and their family should ever suffer the torture and grief Ovarian Cancer caused our family.
It was inhuman!
It was soul destroying!
Giovanna's case should never be forgotten and Giovanna should never be forgotten. It is wonderful that people have survived this disease, please don't forget the many who didn't. We must never rest until a cure is found. Giovanna fought to the very end, but lost and in her memory we wish for no other child to fight and lose, this must not go on.
Science must be funded to help find a cure.
